Your WLA membership gives you access to a wide range of programs and services that will help you train your staff, foster a safer workplace and meet your responsibilities as a hospitality operator and employer. These programs are available to WLA members through the Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation as part of the WRA/WLA partnership and joint operating agreement. Courses include:
Hospitality Workplace Safety Training
Designed by the industry for the industry, this program is focused on keeping employees safe in a food service environment. This in-house training program will assist your establishment by providing effective and efficient training to your employees.
This comprehensive course covers all the basics of First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Option Bloodborne Pathogens add-on.
Available as a standalone course or as an add-on to the First Aid/CPR/AED class, this course is designed for people who may come into contact with bodily fluids during the course of their daily job duties or through providing first aid to a person in need.
This course is designed to protect employees from hazardous chemicals used or stored in the work setting.
Incipient Fire Fighting*
The skills required to fight incipient fires, such as using portable fire extinguishers, will be covered in hands on training provided by Instructors who serve as Certified Fire Personnel.
An advanced food safety program that meets the Washington State Department of Health’s Demonstration of Knowledge and Person-In-Charge (PIC) requirements. Successfully completing the class ensures knowledge and compliance.
A Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) program approved by the Washington State Liquor Control Board for your state mandated Class 12 and 13 server permits. Classes are available online at www.SSAwashington.com.
This program will give your staff members the knowledge to implement protocols, policies and procedures for handling allergy-related requests from your customers.

AH&LA Info Center
The AH&LA Information Center
Located at the Conrad N. Hilton College at the University of Houston, the AH&LA Info Center is a full-service research facility dedicated to collecting information about the lodging industry. The Information Center provides members with answers to hospitality questions at no cost, usually within three business days.
Much of the information you may need is already available on the AH&LA Information Center's website. Members can access the History of Lodging in the USA, a current Lodging Industry Profile, Traveler Expenditure Data, a list of the Top 50 Hotel Companies, an array of Frequently Asked Questions, and Industry Links. Another excellent research tool is the AH&LA Industry Knowledge Base, containing press releases, articles, reports, trends, and more, which is updated daily from a variety of sources.
